A survey done by consumer champion Which? has revealed the reasons why shoppers may be turning their backs on their local High Street.

The study - centred around levels of customer service - found that poor service and the increase in self-service checkouts means more and more people are turning to online shopping.

Which? editor Martyn Hocking said that the survey revealed 41 per cent of people now prefer shopping online, while, due to the continuing financial crisis, half the people asked said they are doing less shopping now than they did a year ago.

The survey ranked Halfords, WH Smith and Tesco amongst the worst stores for customer service.

Is this something shops in Walsall should take notice of? Would better levels of customer service encourage you to part with more of your cash locally? Where can the best and worst customer service in Walsall be found? Let us know.
