Well Aikido is a great martial art to do all that.
Aikido Class Every Friday @
Oak Park leisure centre
7.30pm to 9.30pm - Adults £4.60 a class. Under 16, £2.70 a class.
Aikido is performed by blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on. This requires very little physical strength. The basic Aikido techniques are joint immobilisations, pins and throws.
Aikido focuses not on punching or kicking opponents, but rather on using their own energy to gain control of them. It is not a static art, but places great emphasis on motion and the dynamics of movement of body parts.
Come down and have a go and see what we are about.
