The Jubilee weekend is upon us, and despite the typically disappointing weather forecast, Walsall is ready for a Royal celebration.
The town is ready for a party
Official events are taking place throughout the four day weekend, including the Caldmore Village Festival, which kicks off tomorrow and runs until Monday.
Bloxwich Children's Centre are planning a Jubilee party this weekend, and they were given a boost in the shape of a 'Feast Fit for a Queen' hamper, donated to them by the local ASDA store.
Information on all official events taking place around Walsall can be found at www.whatsonwalsall.co.uk.
As revealed in the Advertiser yesterday, residents are also keen to host their own celebrations, and almost 30 street parties will be taking place across the borough this weekend.
That number is almost four times the amonut that were held for last year's Royal Wedding, and Mayor of Walsall Dennis Anson says he is thrilled at the level of support for the event.
"There is a real feel good factor around as we head into the Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend and Walsall is leading the way," he said.
Perhaps the most spectacular local event will take place at 10.15pm on Monday evening, when Barr Beacon joins thousands of other locations across the country by lighting a beacon in honour of the Queen.
Tickets to watch the event unfold were snapped up in a matter of hours, and the lucky few with tickets can access the site from 8.45pm.
However you're celebrating the Jubilee, have a great weekend.
