A CHRISTMAS event is set to take place to raise much-needed funds for the Teenage Cancer Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Streetly Village on Burnett Road will be holding their Charity Christmas Market on Sunday, December 2, from 11am-4pm.

Children will be able to go on fairground rides and visit Father Christmas who will be in his grotto.

The church choir will be helping visitors get in the festive mood with Christmas Carols.

And a variety of more than 40 Christmas-themed stalls are sure to get residents in the festive mood with a range of homemade crafts, jewellery, handbags, ceramic homeware, homemade jams and American sweets.

Hungry visitors can also enjoy a range of hot festive food and mulled wine.

There will be a 50p entrance fee for adults, children will go free.

All proceeds made on the day will go to charity.

Burnett Road will be closed from 6am in the morning from Thornhill Road to Leslie Road due to the market.
