Rushall Olympic got their season underway with a fine away win at Whitby Town on Saturday.

The Pics turned in a battling performance, and brought the three points home thanks to Dave Walker's second half goal.

The home side started the better, with Liam O'Mahoney and Gary Armstrong in particular proving to be a handful for the Pics defence.

O'Mahoney's 30-yard strike was the closest Whitby came to opening the scoring though. as Rushall's back four stood firm under the pressure.

They were rewarded for the on 58 minutes, when Walker climbed highest to meet Louis Keenan's corner and power a header into the Whitby net.

That lead was almost doubled later on, as Lei Brown hit a fierce drive that had to be palmed away by home goalkeeper Nick Liversedge.

However, the single goal was enough for Rushall, and they will be hoping to build on that win when they host Ilkeston tomorrow evening.
