Rushall Olympic returned to the top of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division table yesterday despite being held to a draw by Stafford Rangers.

The Pics - who had lost their previous two league fixtures - started brightly and went in front when Gavin Caines hooked home his first for the club on seven minutes.

The lead only lasted until midway through the half though, as Stafford got back on level terms when Jimmy Turner headed home the equaliser.

As the game went on, both sides wasted chances to go in front, with Lucian Spittle and Kyle Haynes both going close for the Pics.

However, it was Rangers who looked the more likely as the clock ticked down, with Simon Everall and Michael Carr both having sights of goal.

Ultimately though, both sides had to settle for a point, meaning Rushall nudge just ahead of Marine at the top of the league, however the Merseysiders do have two games in hand.
