Walsall's own swimming superstar was given a hero's welcome as she returned to Walsall for a victory parade today.

17 year-old Ellie Simmonds, who won two Paralympic golds in London, started her journey in her home town of Aldridge, where hundreds of locals cheered her as she visited her old primary school, Cooper and Jordan.

From there, Ellie climbed aboard an open-top bus, which took her into Walsall town centre where another big crowd had gathered.

After getting off the bus outside the Town Hall, Ellie made time to chat, sign autographs and pose for pictures with the local schoolchildren who had been invited along by the council, before thanking the assembled crowds.

A handful of media interviews followed, before Ellie made her way inside the Town Hall to answer questions from the primary school children.

She explained to them how she came to be involved in the sport, her main motivation - winning medals - and where she keeps her Paralympic prizes.

Ellie was then presented with the huge congratulations card which has been signed by countless members of the local community - a lasting sign of the town's appreciation of her magnificent achievements.
