A FUN-filled play for all the family is being performed this Christmas at Sutton Coldfield's Highbury Theatre.

The Gingerbread Man, by David Wood, takes to the stage from December 21 to January 5.

Set on an antique kitchen dresser, The Gingerbread Man meets Salt, Pepper and Cuckoo, who lives in a cuckoo clock.

The team set about trying to ensure that Cuckoo's sore throat does not ruin his hourly calls and send him in to the dustbin.

"The Gingerbread Man promises lots of laughs, plenty of audience participation and music to sing along to," a production spokesman told Your Time.

"Suitable for all the family and enjoyed by all ages, this show will be a real treat – and in this time of recession an affordable trip to live theatre for all the family this Christmas."

The "internationally acclaimed" play opens with evening performances, at 7.30pm, on December 21, 22 and 29, and on January 3, 4 and 5.

There are also matinee performances at 2.30pm on December 27, 28 and 29 and on January 5.

Tickets for The Gingerbread Man are available from the box office, telephone 0121 373 2761.
