MEMBERS of a Walsall golf club are the latest to pledge support for our groundbreaking appeal.
The Calderfield Golf and Country Club have made the St Giles Walsall Hospice their chosen charity for the next 12 months.
And after realising the Goscote facility's impact upon the lives of people in the local community, they are now keen to show their support for the Advertiser's fund-raising campaign.
David Senior, club captain, said: "I have been to the hospice and seen its nurses in action. They do a fantastic job for seriously-ill people from Walsall and the surrounding area.
"The launch of Helen's Appeal has given everyone in Walsall the chance to back this superb charity by supporting a nurse who lives locally and who cares for people from this community."
The club is now gearing up for the first of two fund-raising events at the Captain's Charity Shield Competition.
Members will donate their entry fees in a bid to boost funds for the hospice next Sunday (September 16).
And a black tie ball will take place on Friday, November 2, including a three-course dinner, auction, race night, raffle and entertainment.
"At Calderfield Golf and Country Club, a meeting between Alan Tranter, Bill Aherne, Bob Simkin, Alan Porter and I led us to decide to raise funds for St Giles Walsall Hospice over the coming year with a calendar full of fund-raising activities. I hope this will encourage others to do the same," added David.
Tickets for the ball cost £24.95 and can be booked by calling 01922 632 243.
