Local businesses looking to set-up or relocate to Walsall Town Centre are being offered a package of incentives as part of a plan to turn the area into a 'thriving commercial metropolis'.

Nine vacant units have been secured and will be offered to businesses as part of the High Street Innovation Fund plans.

The council is now looking for businesses who may be interested to contact them for more information.

The deal includes up to six months business rates relief, a business support package and incentives and discounts from existing businesses.

Councillor Adrian Andrew believes the initiative will help breathe new life back into the town centre.

"We have been given a chance to create a legacy for economic wellbeing, providing investors, shoppers and visitors to Walsall with an attractive, busy, successful town centre.

"It's another example of how we're working closely with the private sector to breathe life back into the high street and support new and existing businesses," he added.

Walsall Town Team Member, Nick Parkinson, said: "This project will see the private and public sector joining forces to support and nurture new start up businesses in getting their foot in the door to running their own retail business.

"It will also support existing small businesses looking to relocate into Walsall town centre from both inside and outside of the borough."

Business owners and entrepreneurs are now being invited to apply and can contact the Town Centre Management Team by calling 01922 654323 or email
