Best not to talk about the football

THE good news is that, following that pathetic performance at the Ricoh Arena last Saturday, I don't have to talk about the football this week.
Since a certain local radio station stopped including the Bescot in their Christmas Toy appeal last year, the Trust decided to carry one out itself. Last season saw a brilliant response from Saddlers fans across the region and we have decided to carry one out again, at this Saturday's game.
We will, with the generosity of Saddlers fans, be providing toys for the Walsall players to take to the children's ward of the Walsall Manor Hospital on their annual visit, and this year we will include gifts for new born babies for the neonatal unit purchased with donations from the 2011 Toy collection.
As was the case last year toys will also be donated to the Walsall Rainbows Children's Hospice.
The Supporters' Trust will also be sending toys to another worthy cause this year, the Black Country Food Bank, which is based in the Church at Junction 10.
The Food Bank will distribute toys to local children who are unlikely to receive any presents this year.
The Trust are also happy to receive any non-perishable food stuffs to pass on to the food bank, so tins of food would be gratefully received and put to good use.
There will also be a collection bucket for any unwanted change, that will also be put towards the cause.
We are sure that fans will once again rise to the occasion and help the Trust to support the less fortunate within our community.
